Welcome
to Mas de la Bousquette - an idyllic and unforgettable place
to stay at any time of year.

Easily
accessible
from Montpellier and Nîmes airports, equidistant between Nîmes
and Avignon, Lussan provides a perfect holiday location for
all interests.
Within
the village there is a post office, small general shop and
two restaurants, with a host of other excellent places to
eat very close by. We have a small weekly market in the village
and a local farmer runs a shop selling a wide range
of local produce. Fresh baguettes, croissants and pastries
are delivered straight from the oven to the basket on the
front door every day; free-range organic eggs from our own
chickens.
The
nearest town, Uzès – France’s oldest duchy – is about 15km
south of Lussan and here can be found many cafes and open
air restaurants as well as the famous Saturday market. The
vibrant cities of Avignon, Nîmes and Orange, with their Roman
sights and internationally-acclaimed music festivals are about
45 minutes drive. The spectacular Pont du Gard, a Unesco World
Heritage site, is only 20 minutes drive away.
For
wildlife enthusiasts the area abounds in unique habitats;
the mas itself sits in 7 acres of unspoilt meadowland, which
is alive with colourful butterflies attracted by the wild
herbs typical of Provence, as well as rare bee orchids in
the spring. Regular visitors also include kites, buzzards,
eagles, vultures, wild boar and a host of other wildlife.
The
wild open spaces of the Camargue, famous for its white horses
and pink flamingos, are about 75 minutes away.
Those
seeking leisure activities are spoilt for choice, with canoeing,
golf, rock climbing, riding, cycling, tennis available very
close by. A day’s sunbathing on a Mediterranean beach is within
a 90 minute drive. The famous vineyards of Côtes du Rhône
are right on the doorstep. Walkers can enjoy spectacular countryside,
with the beautiful mountains of the Cévennes, and the Gorges
d’Ardèches and Cèze easily accessible.
A
short stroll across the meadow and you are immediately into
miles of wild garrigue with far-reaching views to the Cévennes
to the west and Mont Ventoux beyond the Rhône to the east.
Sunsets are a specialty! For artists, the pure clear light
of Van Gogh’s Provence is unbeatable.
Off
season the area can be seen at its very best, with spring
and autumn being particularly beautiful, and winter very short
– cold but sunny. Extended off-season lets will appeal particularly
to bird-watching enthusiasts, where the spring and autumn
migrating periods are of particular interest. With an abundance
of pure, clear provençal light, the quieter off-season months
will attract artists or anyone just wishing to experience
the “real” France.
