Mas
From
the village ramparts - the mas is surrounded by gloriously
unspoilt countryside.
MAS
de la BOUSQUETTE is a traditional Provençal mas built
of the local mellow limestone. Over the centuries “new” bits
– barns, granary, silk farm
–have been added surrounding a fascinating internal courtyard,
with its Roman-tiled roofscape and worn stone steps. Today,
with the soothing sound of running water, that courtyard garden
is a haven of peace and tranquility - a cool place to sit
on a hot summer’s day.
Much
care has been devoted to the creation of the gardens – walkways
covered with wisteria, roses and clematis; a walled pool garden
full of Mediterranean and exotic sub-tropical plants; weeping
willow, acacia and papyrus bordering the ornamental pond,alive
with colourful koi carp; banks of lavender, rosemary, cistus
and oleander. Thankfully our own subterranean reservoir keeps
the whole garden alive in this dry and sunny climate!
Filled
with the scent of jasmine, roses and honeysuckle, the sound
of running water and singing ciccadas, the gardens offer the
perfect place for celebrating a marriage. And afterwards why
not spend a romantic week in le Murier for that never-to-be-forgotten
honeymoon.
The
gîtes are independent from the main house with their own parking
area set amongst an orchard full of almonds, cherries, apricots,
olives, figs and pomegranates - all completely organic.
Each gîte has its own private terrace where you can take breakfast
or an evening glass of the excellent local wine. Within
the garden guests also have their own barbecue area where
you can enjoy "al fresco" dining and watch the spectacular
sunset over Mont Bouquet. A range of our own and local
organic produce and wine is available to add to the enjoyment
of your stay.
This
part of Provence is most lovely out of season, with an abundance
of pure clear air and light. Even in winter the sun continues
to shine most of the time. If you are looking for somewhere
inspirational to take time out to write, paint, or just "be",
come and visit us for an extended stay between October and
the end of May and become part of the real Provençal way of
life. Or come for a long weekend, stay in our chambre

The
whole mas sleeps 20 in great comfort, making it an exceptional
