Mas de la Bousquette
Bienvenue – Welcome
We will be closed from the end of September until 4 April 2020
Set below the ramparts of Lussan, one of the Plus Beaux Villages de France, this ancient mas has been sympathetically restored to offer three beautiful self catering gîtes for 2-10 people, set around a Roman style courtyard.
The grounds are extensive, with landscaped gardens, pool, boules court, barbecue terrace, and several acres of fields. From here you can walk straight out into the garrigue beyond. There are plenty of places to sit and enjoy the views or spot the wildlife and with a maximum capacity of just 10 guests there is always a quiet spot to be found.
In the heart of the Gard Provençal we are ideally located to explore all this region has to offer. With easy access to the Cevennes and Ardeche for lovers of outdoor activities, and close to the Mediterranean coast and to the historic towns of Uzès, Avignon, Nimes and Montpellier there’s something for everyone to enjoy. At the end of a day’s exploring, our gardens provide the perfect place to sit back and relax. Enjoy the slower pace of life and soak up the atmosphere of this beautiful area.
We aren't a boutique resort, our visitors choose us for the exceptional level of comfort and amenity we provide and an unrivalled level of service, all within a charming traditional French farmhouse setting.
The Mas makes an excellent home for groups of friends or family with several large dining areas, shared spaces and, just as importantly, private spaces to retreat to.
Children over 16 are welcome at the Mas. Younger children accepted when all three gîtes are booked together.
Every care has been taken to preserve the charm and character of the buildings and each gîte has its own rustic style, with exposed stone walls or vaulted ceilings, ancient beams and terracotta floors.
Comprehensively equipped with everything you could possibly need, the gîtes offer quality beds and linens, fully equipped kitchens, iPads, Bluetooth speakers, Nespresso machines, books and games – everything you are likely to want to make your stay an enjoyable and comfortable one.
Join us for a welcome supper with seasonal and local produce.

THINGS TO DO
We are at the heart of a vast wine producing region. Visit a vineyard, let us arrange a tasting tour or for larger groups, our local vigneron/sommelier will visit the Mas and host a wine tasting for you.
The Gard is famous for Roman antiquities from the beautiful Pont du Gard to the Arena at Nîmes, but it has much more to offer. From prehistoric sites, cave paintings or the cities of Avignon and Nîmes, monuments and museums abound.
Every village hosts a weekly market, none more famous than the fabulous Uzès Saturday market . For foodies this is heaven. Soak up the atmosphere and do like the locals – coffee and a croissant while you watch the world go by.
You will find potteries, galleries and studios across the region. Villages host fêtes and festivals, night markets , bull runs and musical evenings. There’s something for every taste.
The Great Outdoors
For active holidaymakers there couldn’t be a better area. Cycling and hiking straight from the door of the Mas; rivers with, opportunities to canoe and wild swim. Climbing, horse riding and caving are all available.
“We researched the area and chose Mas de la Bousquette for its proximity to the Ardêche and fantastic towns like Uzes and the Pont du Gard . We didn't realise that fairytale villages and stunning restaurants were so prolific.”
Andy & Karen
For five hundred years, and possibly longer, the Mas de la Bousquette has nestled below the village of Lussan. Over the centuries new buildings have been added around a stunning internal courtyard with a Roman-tiled roof, cream stone walls and ancient steps. The old sheepfold, silk farm and granary formed the basis for our three lovely self catering gîtes, restored with care to provide a welcome haven for guests.
Today, the Mas is a family home to us, our children who may occasionally be found visiting, two dogs and a flock of free range rare-breed hens. It is our pleasure to welcome you here to share this peaceful and beautiful place.
