MENU FORMULA' of Mas de la Bousquette

.

Day 1: Start the week with a local car-free walk to the Concluses, a spectacular rocky gorge about 6 km through fields and scrubland. Have a picnic and dive into the green and cool waters. Return by the same route or longer return through the heights of Audaciac through the pine forest. Longer option approx. 15km in total. In summer, when there is not much water, go to Tharaux, Frigoulet or the Salamandre Cave to swim.

Day 2: very typical village of Vers Pont du Gard to the emblematic aqueduct. Discover the remains of the unrestored aqueduct before marveling at the Pont du Gard itself. Swim from the beach below and have lunch at the Terrasses, with one of the most beautiful views from your table. Return by a circular route through vineyards and orchards to Vers. Maybe a refreshing beer at the bar before going home

Day 3: You can't not go canoeing. There are two options. The Gardon for pleasant but lively canoe rides and a breathtaking approach to the Pont du Gard, or go north to the Ardèche. We suggest that you DO NOT stop at the Pont d'Arc but go up a little further north to Balazuc. Here you can go canoeing on an equally spectacular part of the gorge without the hordes. The village of Balazuc is also worth a stop. In any case, the trick is to bring a picnic and a bottle of fresh wine. Stop somewhere on the way and swim, relax and enjoy your delicacies.

Day 4: Avignon or Nîmes? Which one to choose? Both are about 45-50 minutes away by car and are full of historical sites, delicious smells and often the sound of music! A plethora of restaurants and good shops.

Day 5: Return to the Gorges du Gardon. From Collias, climb over the Gard River and along the ridge to La Baume. Descend to the river and jump directly: you will need it. And you will probably be the only people present, apart from an occasional canoe that passes by. Go back along the river to L'Enclos, for a simple but satisfying lunch. About 11km in total.

Day 6: 40 minutes away is the very pretty village of Banne, at the crossroads of the Cévennes and the Ardèche. Stroll through the ruined fort, take one of the many marked trails but be sure to end up at the Auberge de Bannes on the village square. Perfect picture, delicious food and smiling staff. Spend the rest of the afternoon in one of their armchairs enjoying the view.

Day 7: If you are not already exhausted, visit one of the many colorful and charming local markets. On Friday in particular, there is St Quentin la Poterie (also famous for its more than 40 ceramists and potters that you must visit) and you can have lunch with the locals and expatriates under the plane trees of the Bar du Marché. Alternatively, there is Barjac in the north of here, an absolutely beautiful Renaissance city that just wants to be explored and with a large lively market on the square. Lots of cafes and restaurants. And of course, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, the beautiful Uzès is home to one of the best markets in France. Arrive early, buy croissants, choose a place to have a coffee and enjoy the view.

There are many other options for all levels and interests and we will always be happy to help you plan a day. Our library offers maps, guides, walks and cycling routes
